The Fjord
Explore the Saguenay Fjord National Park (Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay). This stunning park features one of the longest fjords in the world. Hike the Sentier de la Statue, which offers stunning views of the fjord. Take a boat tour or go sea kayaking to experience the breathtaking cliffs and rock formations from the water. Spot wildlife like seals and beluga whales and enjoy the serenity of the fjord.
You can also enjoy the fjord on a scenic drive that follows the Saguenay River and fjord. You will be treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and cliffs. Plus, you can explore small villages, stop at lookouts, and visit artisans along the way.
To learn more about the ecology of the fjord, check out the Musée du Fjord. This museum is dedicated to the natural history and environment of the Saguenay Fjord. Enjoy the interactive exhibits, an aquarium showcasing local marine life, and educational programs about the fjord’s unique ecosystem.
Local History
Learn about the industrial past of the Saguenay region at the La Pulperie de Chicoutimi. This museum is located in a former pulp mill. Discover the history of the pulp and paper industry in this area, see art exhibits, and explore the museum’s vast collection of artifacts related to regional history.
Check out the Village Historique de Val-Jalbert. This historic village, turned open-air museum, boasts a preserved 1920s company town that was once a thriving pulp mill community. Walk through preserved houses, enjoy interactive exhibits, and ride the cable car to see a beautiful waterfall.
Check out the Pyramid de HaHA! This contemporary art monument commemorates the Saguenay flood of 1996. Located in the district of La Baie, the pyramid was named after the nearby Ha! Ha! River. It consists of 3,000 yield signs and adds a flare of local color to the area.
Adventure
Visit the Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux located on the shores of the Saguenay River. Spend an active day tree-top trekking, ziplining, and sea kayaking. If you wish, you can even stay overnight in a unique treehouse.
For guided wildlife excursions, including bear watching and forest survival activities, check out Okwari Aventures. Learn about the local flora and fauna, experience indigenous culture, and enjoy outdoor adventures in the Saguenay wilderness.
Véloroute des Bleuets offers a scenic cycling route that circles Lac Saint-Jean. You will enjoy beautiful views and access to local attractions as you cycle along. Visit local farms and artisans and enjoy the picturesque landscapes along the route.
You can also rent an electric bike near the port and enjoy a self-guided tour of the town and around the fjord. There are great paths to follow and wonderful views. One caveat – I highly recommend that you do this with at least one other person. It can be challenging to operate the bike, navigate, and see the sites all at the same time. It helps to have a partner. And trust me – those bikes are heavy when you find yourself on the ground with nobody to help you up!!!
Explore the Parks and Observatories
Visit Monts-Valin National Park to explore a pristine wilderness with towering peaks and serene lakes. Hike, canoe, snowshoe or go cross-country skiing. The park is also a popular destination for snowmobiling and fat biking.

Birdwatchers will love the Saint-Fulgence Bird Observatory. Located in the Saint-Fulgence area, you can observe migratory birds in their natural habitat. Enjoy nature walks and learn about the region’s bird species from local experts.
